Friday morning at 06 am we left the Gulf of Aden and passed through the narrow Bab el-Mandeb Strait with the Perim island to starboard.
The Bab el-Mandeb (Arabic:"Gate of Tears") or Mandeb Strait is located between Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula, and Djibouti and Eritrea in the Horn of Africa. It connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden.
The Strait is 27 km (16,8 miles) wide and is shared by the Yemeni island of Perim in an eastern and western passage.
